How to wear Houndstooth

Fashion

The Houndstooth check signals the beginning of Autumn, there’s no denying the summer has ended and we are onto the next season. Houndstooth has been seen a lot at fashion weeks all over (think Acne, Versace and Miu Miu) and is having a re-brand. What was once seen as the pattern of those that reside in the countryside has now become the fashion forward print of this season.

Its all about which garment you chose, the houndstooth print has been all over the from little short skirts, to masculine sharp tailoring and frills or ruffles. Im all about the statement sleeve for Autumn – its such an easy way to make a stand out outfit without freezing yourself to death. You can opt for comfy leggings with a top like this, jeans or try a statement flare like these.

I love this top from Lasula, you can find it here, I just think its so flattering with the cinched in waist and the big sleeves. When wearing flares you sort of have two options, go for a long oversized knit and dress it down or keep the top half shorter and tighter to give yourself a waist and accentuate your silhouette. I love the look of the flared bottoms and the oversized sleeves.

Baker boy hats are just not going anywhere for autumn and as two statement pieces for autumn and winter, I just know its going to be Houndstooth prints and baker boy hats. I mean if i found a baker boy hat in the print that would be a double whammy! Baker boy hats just go with so so many outfits. They just complete this look for me, keeping it an all black chic look and making it a little more masculine with the hat. But don't feel like baker boy hats are just a boyish look - on holiday I wore mine with dresses, swimsuits and pretty much everything in between.

So if you're looking to rock the houndstooth - try monochrome to start with and then trying accessorising with brighter colours or brighter lips. I also think this top would look amazing with a little red mini skirt or the vinyl trend we are seeing a lot at the moment.

My Outfit:

Top - Lasula

Trousers - Zara (but old so try these)

Bag - Prada

Hat - TK Maxx, but similar here

Shoes - Zara
